Is massage therapy covered by Extended Health Care Plans or OHIP?

Yes, most Extended Health Care Plans do cover massage therapy treatments. However, massage therapy services are not covered by the Ontario government (OHIP). Check your extended health care plan to see if you qualify now!

Are Massage Therapists health care providers?

Massage Therapists are regulated health care professionals registered by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

People of all ages can benefit from regular massage therapy visits. Infants who receive massage therapy treatment sleep better and have less colic and abdominal discomfort. New parents can learn infant massage from a registered massage therapist that can help them bond and feel more comfortable with their new bundle of joy. The elderly can also get relief from arthritic conditions with regular massage therapy treatments and generally anyone that sits down at a computer for a long period of time, does strenuous or physically challenging work that might include training or heavy lifting, or has stress and needs to relax can benefit from massage therapy treatments.

Yes, there is a health history form that needs to be filled out.

What is a health history form and why is it necessary?

Health history form must be completed by you (Should only take 2-5 minutes) when you visit any regulated health professional in order to assess whether or not there are any pre-existing conditions that may need special consideration, modifications or if massage therapy may not be recommended. (If you have any serious medical health concerns please let us know prior to your appointment)

How often should I get a massage therapy treatment?

It depends if your massage therapist is treating you for an acute (recent) or chronic (old) injury. Your therapist will most likely set up a treatment plan of 1-2 times per week to start, chronic conditions 1 time per week until the desired results are obtained. As a preventative measure, the massage therapy visits are recommended every 4-6 weeks. Its always best to discuss your health concerns and long term health goals with you RMT to help get you on the right path.

I have allergies and hypersensitive skin, will that be a problem?

No, not at all, the great thing about having your massage therapy treatments at home is that we cater to you! Our therapists are mindful to always have a non scent environment (no perfumes, scented oils or lotions). Should you request an Aromatherapy treatment, your RMT will custom blend your oil with you. All of our oils and lotions are nut free and hypo allergenic. We can always tell you what we are using in our products.

What can I expect from my first massage therapy treatment?

Generally first time appointments are booked with an extra 15 minutes added to the beginning of your massage. This time is needed to go over your health history form (completed by you prior to your massage) and complete any necessary assessment prior to your treatment.

Do I have to pay tax on my massage therapy treatments?

Yes, the Federal government requires all Massage Therapist to collect the 13% HST.

Are there any other costs associated with the on-site service?

Depending on your location and the time of the treatment there is an additional charge for transportation. If you are not outside the 20 km radius of our head office located in Mississauga, and not requesting services where staff would have to travel during rush hour, then there are no additional charges.

How much space is required for the treatment?

Very little, Approximately an 8×5 foot space.
